Urban Design Panel Presentation: Albina Vision Trust

udp header.png

Please join us Tuesday, September 21, at noon for a presentation about the Albina Vision Trust.

Albina was the center of Portland’s Black community in the 1930s through 1960s. It’s still a place of heart for many who remember their grandparents and parents homes before displacement became the norm. Albina Vision Trust has daylighted this important history and worked for five years on a vision that will reconnect the Black community with Lower Albina—the area of the Moda Center and VMC. This presentation will review the past year’s work with the community led by Eldorado team to define a new future for this area. This thought-provoking and radical work lays out how to build wealth and decision-making power where it was taken away and the architecture that supports that Black community.
